Theatre Teacher & Artistic Director
I wanted to take a moment both to introduce myself, and to tell you how excited I am to be in my 5th year as Lone Star HS Theatre's Artistic Director. I’ve been a Frisco ISD teacher for going on 20 years as of 2026/2027. I joined the district in 2008 at Liberty HS teaching English, Theatre, and as Tech Theatre Director before transferring to Cobb Middle School in 2013 as their Theatre Director. I joined Trent Middle School in 2018 as the Head Theatre Director and was a proud member of the WolfPACK for 4 1/2 years. Outside of Frisco ISD, I've also directed professionally for Denton Community Theatre on two separate occasions. I count myself lucky to be teaching in such an incredible and supportive district, and my mission is to continue to both take our program in new and exciting directions, and to foster a safe and supportive environment.
I’ve always been a lifelong fan of all things Theatre, both as a kid when I saw the Phantom whisk Christine across the stage to the lyrics of “Music of the Night” to my high school and college years where I digested, and became involved in, every play I could get my hands on. The Performing Arts have always been “in my soul”, as The Bard says.
On the personal side, I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Jodi, for 24 years and we have four equally wonderful kids: Maya, Gavin, Sadie and Nolan. They are my harshest critics, biggest fans, and the heart and soul of everything I do.
To my wonderful new and ongoing students: I can’t wait to start working with you again this year! I believe in three things: hard work, a healthy respect for yourself and for what you do, and caring for and valuing others. Pure and simple. I think if you can nail those things, most everything else will take care of itself, right?
What are you going to get from me? You're going to grow and thrive in your craft, develop a deep love of our chosen art form, get the tools to carry you forward into college, and you're going to do it all in a culture of positivity, inclusivity, and creativity. I, for one, can’t wait to get started on our upcoming season.
I’m proud and honored to be a Lone Star Ranger, and I can’t wait to see what further adventures await us. The possibilities are endless.

Technical Teacher & Technical Director
Howdy yall! My name is Ms. Avilés (Ms. A works too) and I am your Technical Theatre Director at Lone Star High School. This will be my 3rd year at Lone Star and my 5th year teaching. After graduating from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi, I spent my first two years teaching as the Head Director at Roach Middle School.
Outside of school, you can find me working at community theatre’s whether its acting or designing. I’ve had the privilege to work on various productions at Lewisville Playhouse as a set designer, actor, intimacy coordinator, and stage combat instructor/choreographer.
As a MAJOR Harry Styles fan, one quote I live by is “Treat People With Kindness”. My goal as an educator is to provide all students with a safe space. I am here for YOU!
I cannot wait to start this upcoming year! GO RANGERS!!!!
